Increased Security
Along with the growing importance of distributed development effort, security requirements are getting stronger. The Alienbrain Remote Collaboration Server (RCS) already provides a secure way to let users connect to selected Alienbrain databases from all over the world using secure https connections over the Internet. Now the Remote Collaboration Server offers new security enhancements such as additional configuration options to hide projects from the project list provided by the RCS. Users need to know the name of a project in order to be able to connect.

Enhanced SCM Workflows
Next to great SCM improvements the merging workflow and experience has been streamlined and made much easier.

Enhanced Server Robustness and OS Support
Rising project and team sizes increase the requirements concerning the Alienbrain server. In order to address these requirements the Alienbrain 9.0 server is equipped with an overall improved stability.

The new Alienbrain server now also supports the new Microsoft Windows Server 2008 OS:
Windows Server 2008

Alienbrain 9.0 is a free upgrade for every customer with a valid maintenance contract.

A short update to the last post to answer some frequently asked questions:

After upgrading to 9.0...
  • you won't need a new license key if you already have a license key from 8.x,
  • your existing customizations will not break as there have been no API changes.
